Let's celebrate! Choices!

Hi Everyone!

As happens, life will soon take me away from this blog for about a week.  I'll miss you but it'll be fun to update you with all the good news and happenings when I return.

Right now some of our residents are out of the house for an important birthday party; the 75th birthday of Social Security, held at the West Hartford Senior Center.  They are having a buffet lunch and a BIG birthday cake.  I'm told they are expecting over 100 people to attend! Fun!!!! For those who chose to stay home, several of our residents are getting together in our lounge for a game of scrabble.

Speaking of Birthdays, join us tomorrow for our in-house monthly Canterbury birthday party that begins at 1:30 p.m. in our recreation room.  Dave Eberly, a wonderful piano player, will join us.  Both residents who go to Waldbaums via the van in the morning, and those who choose not to, will all be ready to come together downstairs to relax, eat, drink, sing and celebrate with each other.  Our Activities Director Sister Judy is busy making all the arrangements and shopping today.  If your birthday is in August (and your religion permits) your name is on the cake!
Veronika, our in house hair stylist/ barber, still has a few openings for today and Thursday.

Dinner in the dining room follows at 5:30 p.m., so I hope everyone saves some room for Baked Stuffed Shrimp with Rice Pilaf. Yum!
Update: Our Van driver Brian Soucy says channel 30's Tom Monihan was at the Senior Center event, so watch for us on the local news tonight! If you miss us on the news, you can always check us out at thecanterburyretirement.com

Good bye for now, and good seeing you!

Emily

My New Blog

I'm new to this blogging idea, I'll need to warm up a little.  If I press "publish" by accident and this seems unfinished just bear with me.  I'll figure it out in time (smile).

Our Resident Gladys McFetridge has developed fabulous perennial gardens all along our grounds.  Everyone enjoys the beautiful flowers and plenty of our residents do stop to smell them!

We have a new resident moving in soon, to add to our great group of men.

An owner (investor) just let me know he may selling his 1 Bedroom apartment with a Den.  His mom lived here and he's been like family to us.  He calls every once in a while to say "hi" and to see how we're doing.  Our larger apartments are very popular as there are only so many in the building (on the ends). They are also nice if someone needs a live-in helper later on.

We have great meals here, for example, we
are having Chicken Salad with Grapes and Avacado for dinner tonight along with Tomato Bisque.
Come for a tour of our gracious dining room at thecanterburyretirement.com.

They are predicting storms tonight so stay in if you can and stay safe :)

The Pharmacy delivery person is waving to me, as I wave, well type, goodbye for now to you!

Emily
